Történettudomány - Medgyesi Konstantin: Bibó István koalíciós évekbeli demokrácia-értelmezéseinek recepciója
Konstantin Medgyesi The reception of István Bibó's interpretations of democracy from the Coalition Years. The reception of István Bibó's interpretations of democracy from the Coalition Years. Konstantin Medgyesi The study of István Bibó, titled The crisis of Hungarian Democracy showcases one of the most original and influential democracy concepts of Hungarian political thinking. As a mental starting point it is worth quoting writer István Eörsi who summarized his thoughts for a Bibó memorial book with regards to the study titled The crisis of Hungarian Democracy, where he called István Bibó "The greatest political thinker from the period after Ady". First, we shall review opinions that were published on the official forums of the Communist dictatorship and are relevant to our topic and then we are going to examine Bibó-interpretative thoughts, both public ones and those formulated in emigration. We analyze the renaissance of Bibó after the fall of communism in Hungary, while covering the so-called "naivety approach” as well. By presenting The crisis of Hungarian Democracy and the interpretation history of Bibó’s viewpoint of democracy in the coalition years, we hope to illustrate the interpretative framework of Bibó’s viewpoint of democracy from a historical perspective and how this framework has changed during the course of the last half-century. Our goal is to present the strong, ex-post opinions with regard to the most important democracy-interpreting study of the Coalition Period. We’re convinced that The crisis ofHungarian Democracy and Bibó’s democracy concept of the Coalition Years are outstanding intellectual achievements of Hungarian public discourse, which may also have an effect on future domestic public discourse. 187
