Művészettörténet - Nátyi Róbert: "Kíváncsi vagyok, mikor és hol lesz nekem még oly szép és jó az életem, mint most volt ez az év itten,!" Buday György római időszaka

Nátyi Róbert Buday György római időszaka „I am curious as to when am I going to have such a beautiful and good life as I have had this year?" The Roman period of György Buday Róbert Nátyi The time he spent in Rome through a scholarship has been a short, but prominent period of the life of graphic artist György Buday [1907-1990]. This period in his career marked the end of his Hungarian years and heralded the beginning of his decades in England. The period between the end of 1936 and the fall of 1937 is considered to be a white spot in his life's work, since - in terms of research - it has mostly been overlooked so far. By using the rich collection of his correspondence acquired by the Móra Ferenc Museum of Szeged, the study attempts to reconstruct the approximate timeline and major events of his stay in Italy. It presents and analyzes the more prominent wood engravings made in the Italian capital, the independent papers like the L'annuziazione umana (Annunciation of man], Primavera Italiana, and series, among which the most prominent were the illustrations in the collection titled Tales of Bátorliget by Gyula Ortutay, and the series of fifteen wood carvings of the trilogy of Áron Ábel Tamási. 232
