Report on the Artefact Preservation Work of Móra Ferenc County Museum

With reference to decree 13/2013 (11.14.) issued by the Ministry of Human Resource, in their annual report, museums with a county reach have to detail the tasks delegated to them by the State. Among the tasks, they are to report on their artefact preservation activity. As a result, the list of tasks and duties of the museologists responsible for artefact preservation has been extended, also due to the organisational and legal changes affecting the museum as an institution. The scope of authority and responsibility of the restoration team was also altered, due to the fact that individual job responsibilities were extended and made more complex. The prescribed tasks could only be accomplished with the help of the supervising activity carried out by the experts of the city museums with a county reach. In

the territory of Csongrád county there are 30 certified museum collections. Visiting the collections throughout the county was precisely organized in a systematic way. The experts of the restoration team were consulted frequently throughout the year, mainly in a more informal context when particular problems arose. Frequent visits of the individual institutions have brought about closer professional contacts. As a result of the visits, we have gained a deeper insight into the activity and improvement possibilities of the institutions, also into the conditions of the artefacts preserved, and into the circumstances of preservation. Information and experience gained supported us in both choosing the scenes of methodological workshops and answering questions concerning general problems.
