Banner Zoltán–Darabos Edit: A képzőművészeti osztály ismertetett műtárgyai

92. MOKOS JÓZSEF (Békéscsaba, 1892. november 22. - Békéscsaba, 1972. július 3.) Ablak olaj, karton, 55 x 46 cm Jelzés balra, lent: "Mokos József Leltári száma: 65.13. Szinyei Merse Pál, Csók István, Benkhard Ágoston tanítványaként az impresszionizmushoz közel álló, finom naturalizmus jellemzi festészetét. A Békés megyei művészeti életben azonban elsősorban művésznevelő pedagógusként játszott kiemelkedő szerepet, a II. világháború utáni évektől haláláig. "Ablak" című festményét a múzeum a művésztől vásárolta meg 1965ben. 93. 91. JÓZSEF CSABAI WAGNER (Mezőberény, 27 th May 1888 - Mezőtúr, 6 Л June 1967) Peasant girl paper, pastel, 60 x 50 cm Sign on the left side, at the bottom: "Cs. Wagner József 934." Inventory number: 53.5767. His name cannot be neglected in the cultural history of Békéscsaba. He prepared the plan of the building of the Munkácsy Mihály Museum in 1907, and he was also the building engineer during the implementation. As a painter he was the follower of the István Szőnyi and the Greshamcircle by painting modern, atmosphere-breathing, Hungarian paysage. It can be proved also by this subtle girl-portrait. 92. JÓZSEF MOKOS (Békéscsaba, 22th November 1892 - 3 rd July 1972) Window oil, carton, 55 x 46 cm Sign on the left side, at the bottom: "Mokos József." Inventory number: 65.13. As he was the disciple of Pál Szinyei Merse, István Csók and Ágoston Benkhard, the subtle naturalism standing not far from the impressionism is characteristic of his painting. In the art life of Békés County, however, he played prominent role primarily as artist-pedagogue from the years . following the second world war till his death. His painting entitled the "Window" is puchased from the artist by the museum in 1965. 93. ÁRPÁD SASS (Budapest, 1 st September 1896 - Békéscsaba, 27 th June 1957) Peasant yard oil, canvas, 75 x 55 cm Sign on the right side, at the bottom: "Sass Árpád" Inventory number: 53.5660. He started in Nagybánya, afterwards he lived and worked in different painting colonies of the Great Plain: in Szolnok, in Kecskemét and in Békéscsaba. His activity as artist-pedagogue is memorable in his last period in Békéscsaba. 94. KÁROLY GABUREK (Békéscsaba, 5 th April 1936-Békéscsaba, 23 th June 1986) Peasant burial wood-fibre, oil, 80 x 100 cm Sign on the right side, at the bottom: "Gaburek 67" Inventory number: 73.33.1. Beside György Kohán the artist departed so early was the most promising talent of the figurative expressionism dealing with folk-topics. The Peasant Burial is one of the most representative summary of his approach and stylistic endeavours. 95. JÁNOS MATTIS TEUTSCH (Brassó, 13* August 1884-Brassó, 17 th March 1960) Curly road paper, aquarelle, 23.8 x 33.8 cm Sign on the left side, at the bottom: "MI.." Inventory number: 76.10.1. The expressionist-constructivist artist starting off with the TODAY [avantgárdé journal in the 1910s], Lajos Kassák and the Hungarian activists, and playing important role in the first wave of the European avantgárdé represents a linoleum engraving and this early aquarelle (1912-1914) in our collection. The work shows the way of the artist from the secessionist decorativeness to the so called "musical expressionist" style. 136
