Az 1970-es, 1980-as évekbeli munkái alapját modelljeinek fekete-fehér fotói képezik, melyeken természeti tárgyakat, anyagokat (homok, kő, víz), sík- és térgeometriai alakzatokkal társít, fő szervező elemként a fény-árnyékot, a tárgyakat új jelentéssel felruházó megvilágítást alkalmazva. A békéscsabai Munkácsy Mihály Múzeumban megrendezett Tervezőgrafikai Biennálék plakátjainak és katalógusainak tervezőjeként felismerhető és mégis érzékenyen változó arculatot teremtett a rendezvény számára. Az 1986. évi "A szín" alcímet viselő biennáléhoz készített plakátvázlatán a hengerforma plaszticitását színben és vonalban megjelenő vetületeivel képezi le. 100. Az 1970-es évek végén készült plakátjainak sorába illeszthető be "Bánk bán" plakátja is. A sorozat darabjai magyar és külföldi írók (Zrínyi, Csokonai, Verne, Voltaire) arcképeit saját környezetük illetve műveikre utaló - elemeiből alakítja ki. A parafrázisoknak is felfogható, szürrealisztikus arcképek Arcimboldo manierista fantáziaképeit idézik, a képi játékosságot a metszet műfaja által meghatározott vonalstruktúrával párosítva. Katona József arcképét, a Bánk bán bemutatójának helyszínére, a Nemzeti Színház színpadára illeszti be. His conceptional-minimalist world bringing new freshness in the field of applied graphics can be seen on his posters, unique works. Black and white photos form the basis of his works from the 1970s and 1980s, on which he associates natural objects, materials (sand, stone, water) with horizontal and spacegeometrical figures, applying light-shadow and lightning attributing the objects with new interpretations. He was the designer of the posters and catalogues of the Design Graphics Biennial organised in the Munkácsy Mihály Museum of Békéscsaba, and he created a characteristic, but sensitively changing image of the organisation. On his poster-sketch made for the biennial entitled "The colour" in 1986 he maps the plasticity of the cylinder-form with its projections appearing in colour and line. 100. István Orosz uses the illustration technique of the previous century, the steel cut, his specific drawingposters are constructed of virtuosic, exact line-system. His poster entitled "Bánk ban" can be inserted into the series of posters made in the 1970s. The individual pieces of the series show the portraits of Hungarian and foreign writers (Zrínyi, Csokonai, Verne, Voltaire), using the elements of the author's contemporary world and the topics of their works. The surrealistic portraits, which can also be considered as paraphrases, remind of the manierist fantasy-pictures of Arcimboldo. The portrait of József Katona is inserted into the picture of the stage of the National Theatre which was the scene of the first performances of the of the Bánk ban. 138
