A KÉPZŐMŰVÉSZETI OSZTÁLY ISMERTETETT MŰTÁRGYAI 81. ISMERETLEN XIX. SZÁZADI FESTŐ Átkelés a patakon olaj, vászon, 55 x 45,5 cm Jelzés nélkül. Leltári száma: 53.5694. Szerzőjének kilétéről és a kép származási helyéről nincs adatunk. Feltehetően az ókígyósi Wenckheimkastély szétszóródó gyűjteményéből került múzeumi megőrzésbe. Mind a hegyvidéki táj, mind a XIX. század második felére jellemző, "közvetlen" népéletkép szereplőinek viselete és beállítása, akár osztrák vagy felvidéki, de mindenképpen nagy tudású festő kezére vall. 82. ORLAIPETRICS SOMA (Mezőberény, 1822. október 22. -Budapest, 1880.június 6.) Leány virággal (1864) olaj, vászon, 59,8 x 46,5 cm Jelzés jobbra, lent: "Orlai 864." Leltári száma: 58.17. A magyar biedermeier portréfestészet kiemelkedő példája, amely közvetlenségével és lélektani mélységével meg is haladja a táblabíró világ arcképfestői gyakorlatára jellemző érzelmesség manírját. 1958-ban vásárlás útján került gyűjteményünkbe. 83. SZAMOSSY ELEK (Déva, 1826. június 28. - Budapest, 1888. április 21.) Szent család olaj, vászon, 79 x 63 cm Jelzés nélkül. Leltári száma: 87.1.1. A Bécsben tanult, majd Velencében dolgozó művész 1861-ben hazatért, s vándorló portréfestőként tartotta fenn magát Pesten, Nagyváradon s például a békésgyulai kastélyban. Művészettörténeti jelentősége azonban abban rejlik, hogy először ismerte fel Munkácsy Mihály tehetségét, s ő látta el az első szakismeretekkel. 84. HAAN ANTAL (Békéscsaba, 1827. január 5. - Capri, 1888. május 9.) Zahorán György arcképe (1863) olaj, vászon, 78 x 65 cm Jelzés nélkül. Leltári száma: 52.3144. A jeles történész, író és egyházi vezető, Haan Lajos testvérének küzdelmes és hányatott művészi útját mi sem jellemzi szemléletesebben, mint hogy képei javarészét nem szignálta, s a kutatás a nagyon kisszámú életrajzi dokumentációra támaszkodva csak utólag és nehezen tudja műveit ideatifikálni. Ez a portré is "Ismeretlen XIX. századi festő" műveként került gyűjteményünkbe, s az első Haan Antal emlékkiállítás rendezője, B. Túrok Margit állapította meg hitelességét. A festményt 1994-ben restauráltattuk. 85. JANKÓ JÁNOS (Tótkomlós, 1833. október 1. - Budapest, 1896. március 29.) A menyasszony fogadása (1857) olaj, vászon, 36,3 x 61,8 cm Jelzés középen, lent: "Jankó 857." Leltári száma: 89.4.1. Csere útján, 1989-ben szereztük meg gyűjteményünk számára. Az 1848-49-es forradalom és szabadságharc utáni időszakban a művészeti érdeklődés előterébe került népéletkép egyik legkiválóbb művelője ezen a viszonylag kisméretű kompozíción is mélységes valóságtiszteletéről és népismeretéről tesz tanúbizonyságot. Inventory number: 87.1.1 Having studied in Vienna and having worked in Venice the artist returned home in 1861, and he made a living as a portrait painter in Pest, Nagyvárad, and e.g. in the castle of Békésgyula. From the aspect of the history of art, however, his significance comes from the fact that he was the first who noticed the gift of Mihály Munkácsy, and the first who supplied the young talent with artistic knowledge. 84. Inventory number: 52.3144 Nothing indicates better the rugged artistic career of tire brother of Lajos Haan, the famous historian, writer and ecclesiastic leader, than that he did not initialled most of his paintings, so the researchers can identify his works only subsequently and with many difficulties on the basis of the small amount of biographic documents. This portrait also got to our collection as the work of an "unknown painter from the 19

th century", and only the arranger of the first Antal Haan memorial exhibition, Margit В. Túrok could prove its authenticity. The painting was restored in 1994. 85. JÁNOS JANKÓ (Tótkomlós, 1

th March 1896) Welcome of the bride oil, canvas, 36.3 x 61.8 cm Sign in the middle, at the bottom: "Jankó 857." Inventory number: 89.4.1. We acquire the painting for our collection by exchange in 1989. János Jankó was one of the most excellent representatives of the folk-genre painting, which was very popular in the period following the revolution and war of independence of 1848-49. He gives evidence of fidelity to reality and familiarity with the folk life in this relatively small-sized composition. 134 1 Person who is coming from North-Hungary (today Slovakia).
