Deli Tamás: Agardhiella kutatások eredményei a Kárpátokban. A Munkácsy Mihály Múzeum puhatestű (Mollusca) gyűjteményének Agardhiella anyaga

Deli Tamás ZILCH 1958 Zilch, Adolf: Zur Kenntnis der Gattung Argna COSSMANN (Pupillidae, Lau- riinae). Archiv für Molluskenkunde, 87/ 4-6. (1958) 149-152. Results of Agardhiella researches in the Carpathians. The Agardhiella material of molluscs (Molluska) of the Munkácsy Mihály Museum- Tamás Deli - Resume The shells of the Agardhiella species are very similar at first glance, cylindrical, apices rounded, white and transparent, but their soft parts are also depigmentated and the majority of the species are blind. Almost each representative of hive smails (Agardhiella spp.) is a real rarity. Thanks to 9 greater collection tours spanning 5 years’ collection work, the Békéscsaba Munkácsy Mihály Museum has one of the biggest Agardhiella collections in the world. The most complete is the material from the Carpathians (Romania) where 1,235 individuals (95 items) of 10 species found their ways into the museum's records. Partly based on the items of the mollusc collection of Munkácsy Mihály Museum, two new species have been described (A. tünde, A. domokosi). Based on the results of our researches conducted in the south-west areas of the Carpathians, the raison d’etre as animal geography unit of the Banaticum described by Lajos Sods, can be confirmed. The Banaticum is the only region in Europe where the Carpathian endemic species occur together with elements coming from the Balkans. Based on the experiences gained during the collections, it has been stated that part of Agardhiellas and related species are not explicit cave- dwellers (as described by some authors earlier) but they inhabit the gap network between underground stones. We have called the animals sticking to that habitat, gap-dwellers. A majority of the Agardhiella species are obligate gap-dwellers, which is underpinned by their blindness and the fact of their bodies being depigmentated.
