Szakáll Sándor - Jánosi Melinda: Minerals of Hungary (Topographia Mineralogica Hungariae 4. Miskolc, 1996)
have a particularly interesting and, in Hungary, very rare mineral assemblage. In tiny cavities and vesicles, sodium-rich zeolites (analcime and natrolite) occur together with nepheline, aegirine, muscovite, pectolite, and albite. The occurrence of magnetite and hematite near Magyaregregy is probably connected with these alkaline igneous rocks. Near to these - in contact zones with limestone - a small number of shams occur. For the sake of completeness, the long abandoned sedimentary iron ore deposit near Zengővárkony should be mentioned, where goethite was the chief mineral. Miocene andésite occupies only a small area and has a very poor mineral assemblage.
