NEWS ABOUT THE ROSARY IN THE NEWSPAPER KATOLIKUS ÉLET (CATHOLIC LIFE) IN SZOLNOK The paper analizes the articles about the Rosary Confraternity int he newspaper of the Franciscan parish in Szolnok city. One of its lesson is that the Rosary as association and form of popular devotion was always an important and interating part of the Catholic life in the city. In Szolnok it was the largest devotional group. The Living Rosary Confraternity was founded in Szolnok in 1893. The newspaper shows a very open society which is taking care not only the trebles of the parish community but also the one of the whole city. The members ar allways collecting donations for the Roman Catholic „Karitasz". They regularly supported poor children. Beside its assotiational life the members join the Catholic liturgic life and practice, too. Especially the procession on All Souls' Day was very importent for them. Because of its Franciscan ties they regularly and financially supported the Franciscan places of pilgrimages with money or/ and differenct donations. [Translated by the author] Gábor Barna 509
