RÉGÉSZET - RINGER István: Beszámoló a sátoraljaújhelyi vár régészeti feltárásának első éveiről (2007-2011)

A sátoraljaújhelyi vár régészeti feltárása 201 because of the forest. In 2007, land-surveying for GIS and geo-electronical measuring were made. The systematic excavation of the castle was began in the summer of 2008. In the southeast part of the plateau of Várhegy, the remains of several cells of the building with East and West direction came to light. Thus, we could determine the last trampled surfaces. We also cleaned the large part of the bail, which was found southward from the building. We documented ruined layers in the western part of the central building under the trampled surface from the Late Age of the Árpáds. During the excavation several dressed stones of the Gothic and the Renaissance Ages were found from the debris layer, while several finds (coins, weapons, common goods) connecting with the everyday life came to light from the trampled surfaces. One of the aims of the excavations, which are planned for one and a half decade, is to show the excavated ruins after the conversation and partial restoration. István Ringer
