The entries record the population's feelings in Kassa during the battle itself, and the events in the town which had some relevance for the clash between the Hungarian honvéd army and the imperial troops. The description of the events and smaller incidents correspond to what would today be regarded as a field report. The minutes also record the impact of the military events on the townspeople and the municipal council, the burdens imposed on the town after its occupation by the imperial troops, and how the town related to the War of Independence in general. The entries contain little infonnation on the actual military events; the main goal of presenting the relevant entries was to complement the known facts about the Battle of Budamér and its consequences.
