hatnak a darabszáma alatta marad annak a minimum 500 meghatározható fajú csontnak, amelytől kezdve - Bökönyi Sándor szerint - egy anyagot reprezentatívnak tekinthetünk. Azaz a kisebb töredékszámú anyagok is fontosak, hiszen apránként felhalmozható, fontos információt hordoznak.

11 ANALYSIS OF THE ARCHAEOZOOLOGICAL SAMPLE FROM THE SCYTHIAN FEATURE AT THE HERNÁDVÉCSE 3 SITE Although only 82 animal bones were recovered from Feature S3 dating from the Scythian Age, their archaeozoological analysis was important, in part because little is known about this period in terms of archaeozoology, and in part because three animal figurines were also recovered from this feature. Even though one of the animal figurines was identified as depicting a horse, the animal bone sample included but a single horse bone. The analysis of the animal bones from the other pits of the settlement will no doubt shed light on the role of horse in the community's economy and religious beliefs. Most bones come from domestic animals, and only a few from wild species. Domestic species are dominated by small ruminants, both as regards the number of bones and the minimum number of individuals, although this might be misleading in view of the low number of bones. The proportion of various species in the sample resembles that observed in the case of the much larger archaeozoological sample from the Pre-Scythian site at Salgótarján.
