well. However, this variant is not so significant in Laté Neolithic, Tisza Culture in the Hungárián Great Plain (only 6 out of 13 skeletons ránk among them). The reconstructed stature in this population was higher than in those known earlier. Estimated by Sj0vold's (1990) method, the measurements of the 2 females (grave 20: 154.3 cm; grave 83: 160.5 cm) and the male (grave 57: 173.0 cm) were langer than the Neolithic data counted by the same method and published so far (cf.: Éry 1998). Summing up our results, it seems likely that, in Early and Middle Neolithic, there existed a population the selection advantage of which decreased by Laté Neolithic. Grave 83 from Garadna and, estimated through this finding, the whole population are a representative of the above variant. Ivett Kővári-László Szathmáry 353
