Katona Imre: Az első magyar porcelángyár (Telkibánya) (Borsodi Kismonográfiák 24. Miskolc, 1986)

In the 1880-s, during Fiedler's activity the so-called „Hungarian-like" earthenware production started characterizing the factory's production upto its cessation. Since 1899, Gusztáv Wittich hired the Earthenware Factory at Telkibánya. Gusztáv Wittich was born at the neighbouring Hollóháza and from here he got to Telkibánya in the place emptied following Gyula Fiedler's death in the same year. Wittich got to Telkibánya at the turn of the century, at the crisis of the earthenware industry, thus it is obvious, that he did not manage to prevent the further increase of the crisis. Mainly the competition with the factory in Wilhelmsburg , Austria made the sale of earthenware more difficult. The so-called calcite variety of earthenware produced in Hungary and among others at Telkibánya, too, was far worse than the poorest or even refuse porcelain, therefore quite reasonably, the nontransparent and heavy earthenware unsuitable for use did not sell well. However, Gusztáv Wittich had to experience that their products could not compete with the similar foreign products either in price or in quality, yet he tried to manufacture earthenware at Telkibánya. He throught his products would be able to keep up with the competitors by modernizing the factory and decreasing the production costs. Considering this, in 1902, he set to rebuild the factory with its complete inner reconstruction. However, he could not get over the troubles and therefore in 1902 his factory merged with the works having more favourable circumstances at Hollóháza. Through the signs of the menacing perdition increased on. In 1907, due to a regrettable fire at the works at Hollóháza the machinery of Telkibánya was transferred to Hollóháza factory working in more advantageous conditions, thus the production at Telkibánya went on only for a short time, though limited to a few activities and then it finally ceased. Wittich tried again to establish another factory to utilize local kaolin at Gönc, but owing to social indifference, his efforts would not bring results.
