blank window or niche as excavations inform us. It was used in the room as well as in the kitchen, bigger ones were sometimes divided with shelves. More valuable and delicate smaller belongings were kept in tékas, they were lined with boards, the opening was closed by a solid or latticed door. Chest-maker workshops must have been engaged in making tékas on a smaller scale. While a peasant room may have contained several painted chests, there were only one or rarely two tékas, but never more than that. The tálas or tányéros is a piece of furniture with a special function. The crockery, mostly dishes, plates, jugs that were not meant for everyday use and fulfilled their function only on special occasions like weddings or christenings are hanged or placed on it. As a matter of fact, tálas is a shelf hanged on the wall, with a low slat in the front against which plates and dishes lean, and with nails under on which jugs are hung up. In most cases they were placed in the room, above the benches, pushed into the corner on the wall. Some of them were provided with small drawers on both ends. The tányéros turns up more infrequently in a peasant house, it did not become widespread, its place was in the kitchen. The tálas-fogas is a Furniture from Baranya, part of the exhibition Small seat / R.n. 521005.1 / h. 16,5 cms / w. 22 cms 17
