RÉGÉSZET - Jakucs János – Voicsek Vanda: A Kr. e. 6. évezred második felének új kutatási eredményei Baranya megyében

A Kr. e. 6 . évezred második felének új kutatási eredményei... 175 Recent results in research of the second half of the 6th millennium BC in Baranya County János Jakucs – Vanda Voicsek Over the past decade, several previously unknown large scale Neolithic settlement remains, dated to the last third of the 6th millenium BC, came to light in Southeastern Transdanubia (S–Hungary). Two sites are discussed in the paper, Szederkény–Kukorica-dűlő and Versend–Gilencsa, located about 2.5 kilmeters from each other in the central part of the today’s Baranya County in the eastern area of the South Baranya Hills. In Szederkény, the Neolithic settlement features formed three clearly distinguishable groups (eastern, central and western settlement parts) in the excavated area. In Versend, two Neolithic settlement cluster could be identified (eastern and western settlement parts). Traces of timber-framed longhouses, well known from the settlements of the central European LBK, were found in both sites. Although in most cases postholes were not detected, mainly because of soil, house plans could be identified with confidence through the presence of characteristic paired elongated pitstructures ( Längsgrube ): 66 house remains could be recognised in the three settlement part of Szederkény, and 21 in the eastern part of Versend. ?e reconstructed house plans are arranged in rows and show a more or less repeating layout in each settlement part. Although the type of buildings and the settlement structures reflect the Central and Western European traditions of the era, the main characteristics of the pottery finds, explored in the context of the buildings, clearly resamble to those of more southern regions. ?e pottery assemblage of the eastern and central parts of the Szederkény settlement, mainly from the elongated pits, shows strong resemblances to the early Vinča culture. According to normal typological markers, this pottery can be assigned to the A1a–A2 ceramic phases of the Vinča sequence (following W. Schier’s chronological system). ?ere are occasional sherds of early LBK Bicske-Biňa and Milanovce type as well, but these are rare. ?e ceramic material of the western settlement part of Szederkény is very similar, at least technologically, to those of the eastern and central parts, e.g. the black burnished, black topped and red slipped wares occur in a similarly high or even higher proportion. ?e best parallels of the vessel forms and the decorations, however, are not matched in the early Vinča pottery style, but they rather could be assigned to the socalled Ražište-type of the early Sopot Culture of north-east Croatia. According to the formal modelling of the 41 radiocarbon data from Szederkény, the settlement activity begun in the second half of the 54th century BC (5360-5305 cal BC, 95% probability, 5340-5315 cal BC 68% probability), and lasted until
