Seven Museums - one exhibition Andrea Vándor The first chartered data came from 1712, when settlers started from Ulm to populate the sparsely populated area of the Kingdom of Hungary. The 2012 theme of Danube migration has grown into an international project in 2013 “Migration in the Danube area”. Seven cities (Ulm, Pecs, Satu Mare, Timisoara, Reschitz, Arad and Novi Sad) opened an exhibition with the title: “The immigration of Germans in the 18th century”. The exhibition presented the Germans (Swabians) settling to South East Europe and its economic and cultural consequences with rich German, Hungarian, Serbian and Romanian museum and archival materials. The catalogue of the exhibition published on German, Hungarian, Serbian and Romanian language. The 18th century immigration of Germans into Central and South-East Europe is not a new topic, lot’s of studies, volumes and exhibitions have already dealt with this issue. In recent years, number of scientific work has been done to break the popularized theses. The concept of the exhibition tried for on the one hand query the rigid opinions on the other hand the dissemination of new research results to a wider audience. This is how the individual chapters of the exhibition: emigration, settlement, economic strengthening and integration and every chapter try to discuss “myths” connected with migration.
