Albert Zink: Molecular results of the analysis of the sample Pa

In further analyses we will try to collect more data on the Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA of Pa 6. The evaluation of several genomic deletion and mutations will make it possible to compare the ancient findings to recent strains and help to gain important data for the reconstruction of the phylogenetic pathway of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. To sum up, the molecular investigations of the sample Pa 6 provided evidence for the presence of ancient human and bacterial DNA. The bacterial DNA could unambigiously determined as Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex DNA and with a high probability the species could be identified as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Up to now, the molecular sex determination failed as no product was seen following PCR amplification. This procedure was only performed once and therefore, further repetitions of the molecular sex determination will probably result in a positive signal. Additional amplification steps for a more detailed characterization of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA will also be performed in the near future. 152 A Janus Pannonius Múzeum Evkönyve
