(Sándor Petőfi: A Tisza) A Természettudományi Osztály történetéből Horvatovich Sándor The History of the Natural History Department Horvatovich Sándor Az 1904. november 27-én a Pécs Országút utca (ma Rákóczi út) 1 l-ben megtartott "pécsi városi múzeum" (az eredeti helyesírással írva) ünnepélyes megnyitásakor az akkori állandó kiállítás hét terméből egyben egy 240 csigafajból, lepkegyűjteményből, mintegy 100 kitömött madárból, emlős koponyákból és mamut csontmaradványokból álló természettudományi kiállítást is felavattak. Az intézmény 1927-ben felvette a "Majorossy Imre Múzeum" nevet, 1935-ben új helyén a Rákóczi út 15-ben, két teremben, új állandó természettudományi kiállítását nyitotta meg. A harmadik állandó kiállításra ismét más épületben (Rákóczi út 54) 1947 decemberében került sor. 1950. március 25-től 1999. végéig a természettudományi gyűjtemény és kiállítás a negyedik épületben, a Rákóczi út 64-ben (állandó kiállítások: 1951, 1966, 1982) nyert elhelyezést, ahonnan a Szabadság út 2-be, jelenlegi helyére költözött. 1. kép: A Természettudományi Osztály épülete 2002-ben 1951-ben, az ország összes múzeumának állami kezelésbe vételének évében, három hónapig önálló természettudományi múzeuma volt Pécsnek. Majd ezután, 1951. április 2-tól 1958. június 30-ig a három osztályra (régészeti, néprajzi és természettudományi) tagolódó, "Janus Pannonius Múzeum" nevet viselő When the opening ceremony of the City Museum at 11, Rákóczi Rd. took place on November 27 th , 1904, the then permanent exhibition, which spread over seven halls, comprised 240 different species of snail, a butterfly collection, around 100 stuffed birds, mammal skulls and the remains of the skeleton of a mammoth. In 1927 the institute adopted the name of Imre Majorossy, and in 1935 moved to new premises at 15, Rákóczi Rd., where a new permanent exhibition was opened in two halls. The third permanent exhibition was also opened in a new location (54, Rákóczi Rd.) in the December of 1947. From 25 th March, 1950 to the end of 1999 the natural history collection and exhibitions (permanent exhibitions: 1951,1966,1982) were housed in a fourth building, at 64, Rákóczi Rd., from which it moved to its present site at 2, Szabadság Rd. 1: the Natural History Department in 2002 In 1951, the year when all of the country's museums became state-owned, there was a brief period of three months when Pécs had an independent natural history museum.
