Olivér Gábor Vadászjelenetes sírkőtöredék Gravestone Fragment with Hunting Scene Provenance: Váradi St., Pécs. Mecsek limestone. Size: 73 cm. Inv.No.:1247. According to 2 nd-3 rd century custom, the gravestone was made with the tympanum at the top, the symbolic portrait of the deceased and a scene depicting their life or death below. Below follows a sacrificial scene and an inscription. A hunting scene has survived on the present fragment, indicating that hunting played a part in the family's life. The depiction of the hunters with their unsheathed swords and the densely foliate tree is a motif of Thracian origin. Traces of the original red paint have survived on the stone. A sírkövek készítésének 2-3. századi szokása szerint legfelül a timpanon, alatta az ott eltemetettek szimbolikus portréi, majd az életükre vagy halálukra utaló jelenet látható. Alább következik az áldozati jelenet, majd a tulajdonképpeni sírfelirat. Az itt bemutatott töredéken egy vadászat ábrázolása maradt fenn, jelezve, hogy a család életében valami szerepet játszhatott a vadászat. A kivont karddal vágtató lovasok és a dús lombú fa ábrázolása thrákiai eredetű mintakincs. A kövön megőrződtek az eredeti vörös festés nyomai.
