182 A Janus Pannonius Múzeum évkönyve 46-47 (2001-2002) THE HUNGARIAN-JUGOSLAVIAN RELATIONSHIP AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CROATIAN MINORITY'S SITUATION IN MOHÁCS (1945-1950) The work studies the Hungarian-Yugoslavian relationship from a particular point of view: it examines the effect of „high politics" via the changes in the conditions of a minority community. The approach is not incidental, since the living conditions of ethnic minorities have always been determined by the quality of interstate relationships. The minority policy of Hungary between 1945 and June 1948 was motivated by relevant interest of foreign affairs, the endeavour for good relationship with Yugoslavia. According to this aim there were significant steps made to improve the conditions of South-Slavic minorities living in Hungary. However the work tries to point out that despite these endeavours what difficulties hindered the organization of South-Slavic cultural life and education, what fears the parents in Mohács had in connection with getting their children registered into South-Slavic schools. Similarly the work tries to find the answer why the Croatians in Mohács (like others from the Croatian minority in Hungary) did not identified themselves with the first minority organisation in Hungary, the „Antifascist Frontier" (and later its successor organisation, the South-Slavic Alliance) and why they did not align with its endeavours. MADARSKO-JUGOSLAVENSKI ODNOSI TE IZMJENE U POLOZAJU MOHACKIH SOKACA IZMEDU (1945-1950) Rad istrazuje madarsko-jugoslovenske politicke odnose u zrcalu jednog zasebnog podrucja, razmatrajuci uticaj tzv.
