Természettudományok - Nógrádi, Sára–Uherkovich, Ákos: Studies on the caddisflies (Trichoptera) of the Gemenc Landscape Protection Area (Duna–Dráva National Park), South Hungary

Discussion Results of faunistic research The light trap captured only 25 species during the two years: this is a very poor number, showing the impoverishment of the fauna. In 1998 we collected only 30 species, 15 of them had not been captured by light trap. The total number of species reached 40 in the area of the landscape protection area. The difference in species number is remarkable between the Dráva region (see NÓGRÁDI, UHERKOVICH 1998a) and the Gemenc Landscape Protection Area: the latter has about 40 % of the species of the Dráva region (see also Table 2). a First we have to mention Oxyethira falcata Morton. Its new occurrence is uncommon, as previously we found this species only along unpolluted small water bodies. We suppose that the site of its development may be one of the canals with clear water outside River Danube's inundation area. Hydroptila dampft Ulmer can be frequent in the Great Hungarian Plain as it was shown by us in an earlier paper (UHERKOVICH, NÓGRÁDI 1990); it is not a rare member of the caddisfly community of Lake Balaton (NÓGRÁDI, UHERKOVICH 1994a), and it occurs also in Lake Fertő (ANDRIKOVICS, ÚJHELYI 1983). Thus, its occurrence in the Gemenc LPA is not a surprise. Ceraclea fulva Rambur has very few known sites of occurrence, it is a rarity; it prefers clear waters of the Plain. Most probalbly this species, too, develops in a canal outside the national park. Protected species Only a few species are remarkable from the point of view of natural protection. None of the eleven protected species (NÓGRÁDI, UHERKOVICH 1994b) lives either in the area examined or in its vicinity. Endangered species Almost all of the endangered species disappeared from this area decades ago, thus the fauna of the Gemenc LPA is very poor and monotonous. Naturally, the sensitive species are absent from the fauna, thus only one endangered species (Ceraclea fulva Rambur) lives here, and only two vulnerable species occur in the area. The number of presumed vulnerable species is relatively high, but species not threatened are dominant in the landscape protection area (Fig. 3, Table 4). The fauna of the River Dráva region is richer; in that fauna many endangered and vulnerable species are found (NÓGRÁDI, UHERKOVICH 1995, 1998b). • unknown • extinct, or, vanished Hendangered О vulnerable • presumed vulnerable • not threatened Fig. 3.
