Természettudományok - Uherkovich, Ákos–Sára Nógrádi: The caddisfly (Trichoptera) fauna of the Szatmár–Bereg Plain, Northeast Hungary

A. UHERKOVICH & S. NÓGRÁDI: THE CADDISFLY (TRICHOPTERA) FAUNA OF THE SZATMÂR-BEREG PLAIN, NE HUNGARY 59 specimens), Trichostegia minor (Curt.). AH occurence data are given in Table 3. Unfortunately, this rich caddisfly community has already become damaged for a long period to come as a result of the heavy pollution arriving unexpectedly from Romania in September 1994, without alarm from the Romanian water controlling managenent. Therefore the sluice-works of the Old-Túr river were not closed and the polluted water containg heavy metal ions in high concentration inundated the branches of the river. 4. Comparing the fauna of Tisza with that of other larger rivers During the past years the caddfisfly communities of five larger Hungarian rivers were studied and analyzed. We have presented the most important results in another paper (UHERKOVICH, NÓGRÁDI 1996). As a summary, we established that some species occur in the upper section of many if not all rivers. Such common species are Agapetus laniger Pict., Athripsodes albifrons (L.), Athripsodes cinereus (Curt.), Oecetis notata (Ramb.), Oecetis tripunctata (F.) and some others. Some of them reach a high ratio in the community [Oectis notata (Ramb.), sometimes Athripsodes cinereus (Curt.)]. The caddisfly diversity of the lower reaches of these rivers is reduced and only the euryoecic species can survive under less optimal circumstances. The southern sections of Danube and Tisza are rather poor in caddisfly species; high dominance - over 90 p. c. - of two Hydropsyche species (H. bulgaromanorum Mai. and contubernalis McL.) can be observed. Acknowledgements The authors express their sincere thanks to Mr. Gábor Szilágyi for organizing collecting expeditions and operating the light trap at Túüstvándi, and further to Mr. Imre Vass and Mr. Tibor Somlai for the material collected by them.
