Preservation of the Flag of Pécs Cycling Club Contribution to the History of Cycling in Pécs in the End of the 20th Century Ilona MILLEI The first part of the study describes the flag of Pécs Cycling Club. This masterpiece of a very high level consists of three parts: the flag-base, the flagstaff and the head. The flag-base is a two-sided, embroidered textile with fringe and tassels. On the obverse the club's initials, on the revers their motto can be seen. The flagstaff contains the names of all the foundation-and supporting members engraved in silver sheets. The staff and the head are the exquisite pieces of goldsmith's craft. Further on the paper deals with the history of the club (which was founded in 1893), the dedication of the flag, the cycling events of the examined period and the cyclists' sportswear. The second part of the study gives the technical datas and the details of the preservation process - the sewing preservation of the base, the cleaning of the flagstaff and the metalwork on it. In the end you can read about the completion of the missing parts and the different steps of assembling work can be followed.
