The excavated area represents approximately 20 per cent of the whole cemetery. The unearthed skeletons are mainly in bad state of preservation. The mortality of children and young persons was very high, more than 20 per cent of the population. The adults are mainly europids according to their morphological features, with three europomongoloid cases. There is marked sexual dimorphism in stature. The degenerative changes of vertebral column are frequent, with a few cases of spondylolysis. Besides traumatic changes teeth diaseases and developmental anomalies were present. Comparison with another skeletal populations was done by Penrose's method, but only one population from Arpadian age (Zalavár-kápolna) showed significant C 2 R values. By continuation of the excavation the sample size of the skeletons will increase and it will be possible to tell more about the origin of the Pécs-Nagyárpád Avar population.
