The feast of the local church became a pilgrimage destination because of the miracles associated with the statue of Virgin Mary. József Holczer pp. 163-184 COLLECTION OF POPULAR ANECDOTES FROM KECSKEMÉT József Holczer, the Piarist Friar, was born to a Kecskemét family, where good-humoured storytelling, anecdotes were part of everyday life. Not only old family stories were part of this tradition, but the life of the family evidently offered various linguistic forms of joy and cheer - which spiced their everyday communication. The popular anecdotes presented in the essay are mostly connected to the Piarist Order, the Piarist school, his service at the Kadafalva church, and his family. The pleasant, joyful and sometimes "frightening" moments of school life are often referred to. The collection of József Holczer is a respected addition to the famous and globetrotter work of Kálmán Szabó, entitled the 'Anecdotes from the famous town Kecskemét'. LOCAL HISTORY Borbála Fábián pp. 185-198 NEW YEAR GREETING CARDS FROM 19™ CENTURY KECSKEMÉT (FROM THE PRESS OF KÁROLY SZILÁDY, PRINTED BETWEEN 1841 AND 1896) Rural New Year greeting cards from the countryside, on which there is a picture and a rhyme, or a verse without illustration. Most of the items belonged to chimney sweepers, or postmen. The Katona József Municipal Library has an important and peculiar collection, from the press of Károly Szilády, including greeting cards from various craftsmen, but excluding chimney sweepers. The collection had been partly digitalized, but its systematic investigation has not been done. The material of the Library can be put together with the data from the Municipal Archives on the functioning of the press, such as the account books, which contain further information on the origin of the small prints. The paper focuses on forgotten elements of New Year greeting traditions from Kecskemét through the small prints.
