te Il/a, fig. 6; Plate 10, 14). The surface is orna­mented by serpentine vine with dot circle decorated shoots. At the wider parts the ornamentation falls into bunched leaves. Lower tapered part is fragm­ented. Length: 12.4 cm. Width: 1.8 cm. d) Rear pommel bone plate cover. Obverse (right). The mirror image of the previous plate, with fastening iron nail on itsttapering end (Plate 11/b, fig. 6, Plate 9). Stylized vine ornamentation on the surface. These two plates are in a good state of preservation, brownish, bright. The two plates taper to their joints for about 5.0 cm length, and join with an about halfa centimetre member. This surface bears traced engravings. Length: 24.5 cm. Width: 1.9 cm. e) Rear pommel bone plate cover (reverse) Curved and bent parallel sided bone band with straight cut ends (Plate 12/a, fig. 6, Plate 6). The surface is ornamented with engraved vine, with four embossed dots at the intersection of the op­posite leaf motif. In perfect condition, and with an iron nail at one end, has bright surface. Lentgh: 8.5 cm. Width: 1.6 cm. f) Rear pommel bone plate cover (reverse). Curved Fig. 13/a The bone plate cover of the end of the saddle-tree 1 and bent with parallel sides, one end cut straight» the other end broken off, fragmented (Plate 12/b, fig. 6; Plate 7) Continuous vine, leaf, and dot or­namentation. In good state of preservation, with bright surface. Has iron nail at the joint of the two bone plates to fasten. Length: 7.3 cm. Width: 1.6 cm. g) Fragments of the curved and bent tapered bone plate of the rear pommel with parallel vine and intersecting opposite leaf ornamentation. In a bad state of preservation, with broken and brittle edges (5 pieces) (Plate 12/c-g. Plate 6/2-5.8). Length: 9.4 cm. h) Bone plate ornament of the saddle-tree with net­palmette decoration. Several unfitting fragments in bad condition. Its good edge curves slightly (Plate 13). STIRRUP, forged of thin, flat iron. Its curved foot widens with a rib in the middle at the bottom, the upper end is square in very bad state of preserva­tion. Reconstructed; its pair in fragments. Length 17.4 cm.
