Tomb of shaman / sorcerer Brno 2, Moravia

An important finding of the tomb of a man, grave Brno 2 from Francouzská Street in 1891 is unique in several respects (Jelinek 1972, 203, 208, 397, Fig. 665; Oliva 1996; Svoboda a kol. 2002, 201, 203). On the one hand, it is about the physical anthropology of the skeleton and on the other hand, the unusual equipment of the deceased, which shows the function of the shaman / sorcerer (FIG. 2). In a rich of equipment, a relatively large male sculpture (e.g. Valoch-Laznicková-Galetová 2009, 82, Fig. 11.17) stands out from a mammoth ivory composed as a puppet of individual parts, head, body and limbs, of which only the left arm was preserved (FIG. 3). The statuette was painted with a red mineral pigment. Two large discs (14 and 15 cm diameter) made of marlite are another part of the remarkable tomb equipment and 14 smaller discs (marlite, haematite, mammoth ivory, mammoth dentine, bone) made by grinding and polishing technique (Jelinek 1972, 397, Fig. 656; Valoch - Laznicková-Galetová 2009, 82-83;
