excavated gateway at the rondel at the site Sé (Vas County), which also points in a direction 15° to the north of due east. Gateway number 2 (to the south) at Enclosure No I also marked an important direction for the inhabitants of the settlement. The southern direction is where the apparent path of the Sun and every celestial body reaches its zenith and are in full strength. This is the direction that indicates the highest point of the Sun's annual path at the summer solstice. This direction is easy to locate precisely, since it is shown by the Sun every day. The importance of the north-south direction is also reflected in the relative locations of the two circular ditch enclosures at Sormás-Török-földek. The line connecting their imaginary centre points runs nearly north south and passes through the southern gateway of Enclosure No I. The direction of the possible gateway number 8 in Enclosure No II, constituted by a wooden structure bridge, is also connected to an interesting astronomical/calendrical event. It is in this direction that the Sun sets in the first weeks of November and February, at the time of the socalled mid-quarter days, which perhaps indicated the beginning of winter and spring in an alternative prehistoric calendar. The unexcavated sections of this enclosure have also been surveyed within 16. Juh vagy kecske alakú kisplasztika, eredetileg egy tál belsejét díszítette, Sormás-Török-földek (TGYM). The circular enclosures do not show a uniformed pattern concerning their orientation either, a general rule cannot be stated. In most cases orientation towards a sort of astronomical target (cardinal points, solstices, and directions of notable positions of the Moon, some famous stars or constellations) can be detected. In other cases the topography of the sites (that is the directions of 37 T T
