NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND SPECIAL ARCHIVES OF NATIONAL COLLECTION - Hungarian National Archives by Géza Érszegi and István G. Vass

The Collection from after the battle of Mohács, (1526 - R section) was formed from family archives and personal fonds which were given to the Hungarian National Museum. Larger and smaller entities were arranged in chronological order, later, the Hungarian National Archives tried to reconstruct the originals. The collection was increased through the purchasing of acquisitions. In the collection one can find the records of the participants of 1848 revolution- Lajos Kossuth, György Klapka, István Türr, Antal Vörös etc. Many documents also go back to the reform era and many more to the feudal period. The collection of letter patent of nobility is of particular value. Maps, (S section) were based on maps collected from the archives of the modern offices found in the Hungarian National Archives, Chamber, Council of governor-general, Religion based, Regnicolaris Archives, Ministry of Trade, Transylvanian Government Agency, Monastery of St. Paul, Absolutism period, Court, the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Public Work and Transportation, the Maps of the Ministry of Agriculture. Besides the selected maps of the archives of modern offices, we can find many maps selected from family archives- Abonyi, Andrássy, Ányos, Balassa, Bánffy Bánó, Baranyay Barkóczy, Barna, Batthány, Bay, Becsky Beniczky Benyovszky Berényi, Berzeviczy, Berzeviczy Bethlen, Bezerédy Bíró, Bitskey, Bogyay Bolza, Bretzenheim, Csáky, Csorna, Dalnoki, Daróczy Décsy, Dessewffy, Dőry Erdődy Esterházy, Festetics, Forgách, Gaál, Ghyczy Görgey, Gyurcsányi, Hatfaludy Heinrich, Hugonnay Inárcsi, Jekelfalussy Jeszenák, Kállay, Kapuváry Kárász, Károlyi, Keglevich, Khuen-Héderváry, Kölber, Kruplanicz, Lónyay Lukács, Lutter, Madách, Magyary, Makray Mattyasovszky, Medvey Melczer, Mérey Motesiczky Nadányi, Nádasdy, Nedeczky, Nényei, Orczy, Perényi, Platthy Pottornyay, Procopius, Purgly Radvánszky Rakovszky Révay, Reviczky, Rhaell, Rudnay Sándor, Semsey Sibrik, Simonyi, Skerlecz, Soós, Szabó, Szádeczky, Szartory Szatmáry-Király, Széchenyi, Szentiványi, Szerdahelyi, Szilassy Szirmay Szőgyény-Marich, Szulyovszky, Szunyogh, Szüllő, Tallián, Teleki, Teleki, Tihanyi, Ujfalussy, Ujházy, Veress, Vidos, Vizsolyi, Wattay Zathureczky Zichy so on. A significant collection of maps created gathered from various sources. Photocopies from the archives of Karlsruhei, the cadastral survey from the period of Joseph II., Photo collection from archives and libraries of Vienna, the Photo collection from the archives of Nürnberg, and the Photo collection from the military archives. The maps of some important institutions can be considered an important part of the collection- Hydrographical Institution, National Geodetical Institution, the most important material of a Museum and so on.
