NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND SPECIAL ARCHIVES OF NATIONAL COLLECTION - The Archives of Military History Budapest by Jolán Szijj

opportunities arose for archives. The Archives of Military History being no exception. One of the best ways of 'opening' is to allow those who are interested in the field to have unresricted access to military documents of the past .For this reason we had to renew the publishing right for Military History. So we, the Archives started the series of the Archival Publications of Military History. The first volume was published in December 1997 under the title of 'Ad acta', which represented the Archives and Map storage of Military History and the history of Central Archives and its collection. The annotated corpuses and fond registers of documents held in the archives were published in The public notice of governor-general commissioner László Csány from the town of Győr. 1998. First of all we publish source publications from our collections -from the military records of the revolution and independence war of 1848/49, the documents of military operations in the siege of Budapest in 1944/45 / and archives finding aids. In honour of the millenium we prepared a selection from military documents of over five centuries, which was published under the title of Picture Book of the Archives of Military History which includes the coloured facsimile of the documents. In addition, we formed a deeper relationship with other domestic archives and many scientific institutions. We have the strongest relationship with the History and Auxiliary Science Department of ELTE BTK - ELTE University Faculty of arts,. The undergraduates who study archives often come to lectures and lessons and to do fieldwork. The professional respect of the archives has increased immeasurably. Our relations with foreign institutions has also increased significantly.
