Ferenc Keresztúri, Professor of Medicine and Dean of the Moscow University

The writer of the study presents the major stages in the life of Ferenc Keresztúri (1738—1811). The author specifies the location of Keresztúrit studies and the reasons behind his move to Russia. Based, mainly, on archival materials, the paper recounts the Moscow studies of this renowned physician and his work performed at the university's Faculty of Medicine. The article reveals the major stations of his career: as a chief surgeon, physician major, extraordinary instructor, and public professor.

The author evaluates the works of this outstanding physician known as the pioneer of neurophysical research in Russia in an objective manner. It was a great recognition for him to be elected as a member of the "Leopoldino-Carolina Academia" of Vienna in 1781 and as the dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Moscow University in 1804.
