The „Library ” part merges the full collection of digitized publications of museums and archival institutions with the digitized holdings of libraries (e. g. Parliamentary Papers preserved by the Library of Parliament, regional and local newspapers preserved by the county libraries or address directories of the Budapest Metropolitan Ervin Szabo Library). In the „Gallery” the visitor can search or browse nearly 415.000 images atthis moment, includingthe high-resolution images of precious paintings of the Historic Gallery of the National Museum, beautiful pieces of the tapestry collection of the Museum of Applied Arts or vast collections of postcards and different photo archives. Another feature that makes Hungaricana special is the representation of historical maps thanks to the GIS (Geographic Information System) technology.
