PROJECT OF THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF HUNGARY IN THE MEMORIAL YEAR OF THE REFORMATION The National Archives of Hungary–including all of its institutions–implemented a project in connection with the anniversary of Reformation, supported by the Reformation Memorial Committee set up by the Hungarian Government in 2013, for a memorable celebration of the Memorial Year. Following the meetings in 2014, the project’s basic principles were laid down in 2015, the work had been executed during the year 2016 and 2017, and ended in June 2018. In my study, I summarize the whole project, its structure, its accomplished and even expected results in connection with all related fields. The project is based on the features and strengths of the archives, relying on the basic responsibilities of the institution. Its main objective is to publish studies on archival sources and building databases with modern tools in accordance with standardized principles. The results of the archival project are presented to the society at various levels. With the databases we focus on the researchers, but we are concerned that the new achievements should reach the wider layers of society, and that they can be utilized not only in science, but also for laymen. In addition, it is important to address the younger generation so that we can also provide support for education. The scientific-educational programs of the project, the public education activities, the archives pedagogical courses, and some of the publications were done in this spirit.
