Grant that Thy America may he a lamp Dispersing the shadows Of darkness and doubt, Lest Thy people perish. God of our Fathers, Shepherd of Thy people. Lord of free men’s souls, Enkindle for us a spiritual light To cure our blindness, A light from Thy love To warm our hearts. Our foes are Thy foes, Who plot to destroy Thee; They fight to fetter us, Robbing us of Thee, Robbing Thee of us. God! Show us Thy way, Lest Thy people perish. God of our Fathers, Shepherd of Thy people. Lord of free men’s souls, Light us a star Amidst the gloom, Of gathering darkness. By the light of Thy star We shall have faith, The faith of free men. God! Strengthen our faith, Lest Thy people perish. Szeptember 15.-én Washingtonban a magyarság Nikita Kruscsev látogatása ellen tiltakozó gyűlést tartott a George Washington Monument lábánál és Karikás Cecilia magyar nemzeti ruhában nagy gyászkoszorút helyezett el a szobor mű talapzatára. God of our Fathers, Shepherd of Thy people. Lord of free men’s souls, Light us a torch, A flaming torch, Blazing the way. Change disunity Into Thy unity, Change discord Into Thy concord, Transform man’s failings Into triumphs through Thee. God! Give us Thy guidance, Lest Thy people perish. God of our Fathers, Shepherd of Thy people. Lord of free men’s souls, Bless Thou our D/ation Willi a valiant, godly spirit, With a vision to see,1 With the courage to try, With the power to achieve, That, marching behind Thee, Thy people shall not perish. God! bless our America! Hear our prayer for our united peoples, Grant guidance to our leaders, Protection to our sons And teach each one of us Thy way of life In good will and peace. Amen.
