1921 867 ' No. 770. 4752/pol. The Hungarian Charge d'affaires at the Hague, Mr. Wettstein, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Bánffy. [TRANSLATION] Code telegram No. 30 THE HAGUE, August 25, 1921. In reply to telegram No. 39 : x The Minister for Foreign Affairs 2 is abroad on leave. His deputy 3 said that the decision was a matter for the Minister, and he could only give it as his personal opinion that Holland will in any case vote in our favour, but whether they would take any action in the interests of our acceptance would depend upon general political considerations. He however saw no obstacle. He promised that he would put in a word for our affair with the Minister and give me an official answer. My impression is that it will be in the affirmative. He enquired as to whether other Governments would be supporting our admission, to which I replied that I considered it probable, as we had made similar requests to several neutral countries. The delegates of Holland are : the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister in London 4 (who perhaps might usefully be approached by Mr. Hedry), and a professor from The Hague who is well disposed towards us. 5 No. 771. 4789/pol.
