588 1921 No. 568. ooo/pol. The Hungarian Chargé d'affaires at the Hague, Mr. Wettstein, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Bánffy. [translation] Code telegram No. 27. THE HAGUE, July 8, 1921. To-day Mr. Beelaerts von Blokland, Head of the Political Department in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, asked me to go and see him and informed me that the Royal Netherlands Government, in order to intensify the diplomatic relations of the Netherlands and Hungary, 1 had decided to appoint a chargé d'affaires residing in Budapest besides the Minister accredited to His Serene Highness the Regent 2 and having his residence in Vienna. 3 For this mission Jhr. Ferdinand Michiels van Verduynen, Counsellor of Legation, has been chosen, who at present is a member of the Dutch Legation in London. Mr. Blokland asked me to procure the agrément of my Government for Mr. van Verduynen. I expressed my thanks for this new sign of the friendly dispositions of the Royal Netherlands Government towards us, saying that the Hungarian Government welcomes with the greatest pleasure a chargé d'affaires residing in Budapest and that the person of Mr. van Verduynen would certainly be acceptable to them. Mr. Blokland remarked that it is intended to make this appointment in the very near future. No. 569. 3825/pol.
