Körösi István Résumé Germany's Dual Ties: Germany's Economic Situation, Its Role in European Integration and Central Europe in the Period between 1990 and 2013 Twenty-five years ago, in 1989, within one and a half year, a series of events of world history led to the regime change and economic, financial, and then political unification of Germany in Central Europe. The essay gives an outline of the development of Germany's economic situation and international position in a period of nearly a quarter of a century, as well as Germany's role in European integration and Central Europe. The concept of dual ties means that Germany looks simultaneously towards the West, Brussels and the East as an economic and political key determinant of the Central European region. Based on two pillars, the dual ties of Germany are aimed at deepening and enlarging the integration in European politics and developing its relations to Central Europe. In addition to that, there is a third dimension meaning Germany's transnational and global relations became stronger in the past quarter of the century and Germany as an economic powerhouse was taking the role of a "global player", as well. 68 Külügyi Szemle
