Résumé Hungary in the Focus of Water Diplomacy Efforts The strategic importance of water is increasingly represented in the security and economic doctrines as well, and the governments will work out corresponding national and international concepts. The challenges and opportunities concerning water make international cooperation, the global and regional management of the issue, and finding of the right allies, partners necessary. The observing of the American and European water diplomacy can provide important knowledge for our country as well. Hungary has recognised the increasing strategic importance of water at the right time, and it can substantially contribute to the international concept-forming related to water, due to its geographical and hydrological characteristics and advantages. The regional and global international efforts and initiatives starting from Hungary are promising a central role for the Hungarian water diplomacy, and with its valuable contribution to solving this problem of the whole world, our country can increase its international recognition and prestige. 2012. tél 149
