2008 / 2. szám - ÁZSIA - Folk György: India - beszáll a világversenybe, és nagy erővel őrzi magát

Résumé India - Enters the Race and Preserving Herself As Much As She Can India has always been and remains a receptacle and reservoir of impacts by several civilisations, she receives and embraces them one after the other and remains all the same. Talking of „one country and one nation" is and will be dubious or misleading. The latest story of a market-promoting, dynamic, democratic and intelligent country is a necessary product of global myopia. Deep under the cover of her quickly developing market economy and freshly arriving middle class, India retains all her age-old ballasts and protections, Gods, beliefs and institutions, villages without roads, Hindu countryside, all-pervading poverty, megacity destitution and ecology disasters. A very different set of values: family before individual, caste before freedom and life above stuff will delimit all foreign communication. International marketing and diplomacy do more than ever to hide, reinterpret or forget all this, while new India-based multinationals are too eager to devour lower-segment markets and withering industries. 2008. nyár 95
