Résumé The Relationship between the Holy See and the Vatican City State in Public Discourse and Lazo It is common in Hungarian public life that people confuse the expressions of the Holy See and the Vatican. As it has some implication in foreign affairs, it is worth trying to clarify this question. The author first discusses the typical mistakes in public discourse. Then, he examines the legal, structural and operational characteristics of the Holy See and the Vatican, and their realtionship through them. In the course of discussion, attention is paid to the bureauratic and legal structure of the Catholic Church, as well as its history. After that, the author analyzes the relationship between the internal legal order of the Vatican City State and the universal canonical order of the Church, as well as the raison d'état of the Vatican City State. Finally, he attempts to draw conclusions from the Lateran Treaty. The goal of the author is to clarify the areas in which the Vatican City State can offer help to the Church in the latter's diplomatic activities. Das Verhältnis zioischen dem Heiligen Stuhl und dem Vatikanstaat in der Umgangssprache und im Recht Im ungarischen öffentlichen Leben kommt es häufig vor, dass die Ausdrücke Heiliger Stuhl und Vatikanstaat in Interviews und Erklärungen nicht konsequent verwendet werden. Mit Rücksicht darauf, dass dies auch eine fachliche Auswirkung auf die auswärtigen Beziehungen hat, ist es am Platze, sich in dieser Frage ein wenig gründlicher zu informieren. In der ersten Hälfte meines Artikels überblicke ich die in der Umgangssprache zu bemerkenden typischen Fehler. In der zweiten Hälfte des Artikels werde ich von dem Ziel geleitet, die juristischen, strukturellen und funktionellen Besonderheiten des Heiligen Stuhls und des Vatikanstaates und durch diese das Verhältnis beider zueinander zu interpretieren. In diesem Rahmen stelle ich die gegenwärtige amtliche und juristische Struktur des Heiligen Stuhles als Verwaltung und Regierung der katholischen Kirche vor, außerdem behandle ich kurz seine Geschichte. Dies dient als Kontrast dazu, um ihn mit dem Vatikanstaat vergleichen zu können.
