575. AZ AMERIKAI EGYESÜLT ÁLLAMOK BUDAPESTI KÖVETSÉGÉNEK JEGYZÉKE A KÜLÜGYMINISZTERHEZ Budapest, 1940. február 12. Mr. Montgomery is requested to inform Count Csáky confidentially that the President is considering an exchange of views between the American Government and other neutral Powers covering the two basic problems connected whith the establishment of a sound foundation for a lasting world peace, namely, the establishment of the bases of a sound international economic system and the limitation and reduction of armaments. Mi. Montgomery is to make it clear that such a proposed exchange of views does not involve any present problems arising from the existing war situation; rather the problems relating to the establishment of a permament and stable condition of peace when the existing hostilities have come to a close. Mr. Montgomery should state that it would be greatly appreciated if he could have the views of the Royal Hungarian Government regarding the most feasible way of undertaking such an exchange of views through diplomatic channels, as well as with regard to the most practical approach to the above-mentioned problems.
