May 15, 1964 S' CYO Evening of Entertainment At Trenton Memorial Tonight Sponsored by the Greater Tren­ton CYO, a gala evening of enter­tainment for the whole family will be staged May 15 beginning at Mercer CYAC Hosts Annual Pin Tourney The Mercer County Catholic Young Adult Club was host last Saturday night to the annual bowl­ing tournament for the CYACs of the diocese, held at Circle Lanes,' Trenton. After the bowling, the co-chair­men, Carmen Bisignano and Miss Angela DeSantis, arranged for a buffet-social at Tony Cal’s Res-+ taurant, Hamilton Square, at which awards were presented. Winners were: high three games, men’s division, James Sabo of Northern Middlesex CYAC; Women’s division, Miss Julia Mat­thews, Northern Monmouth; high single, men, William Madli, Mer­cer CYAC; women, Miss Sally Adams, Mercer CYAC; men’s team, Northern Middlesex; women, New Brunswick CYAC, and mixed, New Brunswick. There will be sports celebrities galore, glee club singing, band music and dancing specialties, pat­terned after the NBC-TV Tonight Show. Working with Fr. Leonard R. Toomey, diocesan CYO director, is a committee of CYO basketball coaches and baseball managers di­rected by Ewing Township Police Sgt. Harry Masterson and Samuel Corti. Fourth Degree Knights of Co­lumbus of Bishop Griffin General Assembly will serve as ushers. Masterson and Corti emphasized that the program is not merely sports-centered; there will be plenty of entertainment geared to the entire family. For instance, the Day Brothers?, who have worked with such top artists as Bobby Rydell, will be do­ing their bit in the big CYO bene­fit show. The Notre Dame Fathers Club Glee Club, featuring Leonard Hus­­tak and Orlando Carueci, will be heard in a number of selections; Bill Fabrizio’s Band will play, as will the Sacred Heart CYO Drum and Bugle Corps from Manville. And there will be dancing by mem­bers of the Trenton Studio of Per­forming Arts. On the sports scene there will be NBC’s top sportscaster, Bill Learn­ing, interviewing such athletes as Jim Ringó, the All-Pro center of the National Football League Green Bay Packers; former Olym­pic pole vault champion Don Bragg; Trenton’s Nick Werkman, who excelled on the basketball court for Seton Hall University; Joe Giardello, world’s middle­weight boxing champion; Sam ^_Calderone, former catcher with the old New York Giants, among others. Tickets are available at the CYO office at 1 Centre Street, Trenton, or at the Memorial Building the night of the show. Cathedral High, Mount St. Mary’s Win Drama Awards Cathedral High School of Tren­ton and Mount St. Mary’s Acad­emy or North Plainfield won awards at the recent High School Drama Festival held at Rider Col­lege, Lawrence Township. Cathedral, which presented Devil and Daniel Webster, won the “outstanding special effect” award. Mount St. Mary’s presented One Love Had Mary and Sister Mary Lucia, R.S.M., director of the production, received the “best direction” award and Alice Fa­­mula the “best supporting female performance” award.
