Mount & Son, Inc. with the new ! 954 Ford car. vinced that it was just what he wanted, he bought the car, cheerfully sacrificing his cigar -—smoking to balance the pur­chase. "When my father came back from Philadelphia and •displayed the Ford car in front of his store, local interest was so great that he made ar­rangements to sell cars for John Wanamaker. As he got acquainted with the new automobile, which was taken seriously by few at that time, he came to realize the im­mense possibilities in the auto­mobile business. In the sum­mer of 1904, he took an agency direct from the Ford Motor Co., as an added department to his general store. The next few years bore out my father's idea that the automobile was to become an accepted form of transportation." This was the past. THe'"Be­­ginning of an era when the appearance of automobiles changed the face of the land— brought cities, states—close to each other, created employ­ment for millions; the auto­mobile—and the most typical car, the Ford—become a by­word not only in the USA but all over the world. Mr. W. E. Mount was a trail blazer among the Ford distri­butors and dealers, building his business with an immense faith in the Ford product and on principles of good service and honesty. Established by (he real pioneer in New Jersey for automobiles, W. E. Mount ■& Son, Inc., at 99 Albany St., is a. going concern with a s t a t e - w i d e reputation. Mr. Mount, president, runs the bus­iness with the same principles that his father laid down In 1904, just titty years ago. This interview took place in the spacious and modern build­ing which is housing the' W. E. Mount ■&. Son, Inc., at 99 Al­bany Street in the heart of New Brunswick. The large glass front reveals several new models—with their beautiful streamlined bod­ies and we asked Mr. Joseph B. Mount to stand in front ot one of his display cars tor the benefit of our readers. We could say that it is the newest, most modem, high-compression "eight" in the industry. Furthermore, wo have the only low-friction six built in America—A modem short-stroke design gives you more usable horsepower... longer ‘engine life." Mr. Mount was really en­thused as he continued... "The styling is excellent. We are featuring a new grill and the interior design is really much nicer. Although this year we give much more, the prices are the same. This means that our customers get more value tor ‘heir dollars. We asked Mr. Mount about the prospects aBb^automobl-te­­business in the new year. "I am happy to say that the year started well for us and ibe prospects are excellent. The people really like our car —they are very enthusiastic about it. We have great con­fidence in the future of our company which was a trail­­n’azer in the automobile in­dustry—" Mr. Mount talked to us for a while—not only about auto­mobiles, which are his profes­sion, bui about people and conditions. He firmly believes hat 1954—the year of the fif­tieth anniversary of his agency will be a glorious year not only in sales, bút generally, for the U.S. ^ We asked Mn Mount whether his company has any used cars. "Yes we have a large -used car lot in Highland Park—at 103 Woodbridge Ave. It- is managed by the very able Mr. A1 Quinn, (who is in charge.) We have a large selection there—good used cars in ex­cellent condition, very reason­ably priced. In fact I think that the people who are look­ing for used cars now could get a very good buy. The prices are right and we can arrange two years to pay for used cars—while new cars can be purchased to be paid for in 3 years. We like to ac­commodate our customers—on their own terms—those which ! suit them best." j It was an inspiring and very satisfactory interview with Mr. I Joseph B.
