ADATTÁR - Benedek Gyula: A Jakabházy-Tassy-per egy tiszapüspöki birtokrészért a XVI. század második felében / 231. o.

GYULA BENEDEK THE CASE OF JAKOBHÄZY-TASSY FOR A PARTIAL ESTATE IN TISZAPÜSPÖKI IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 16TH CENTURY The case of Jakabházy—Tassy lasted for somewhat more than three years, between 1570 and 1573, before the courts of Heves and Outer-Szolnok Counties and before the eighthgrade court of Nagyszombat. The source document of this materials is a true copy made about 80 years after the original one from 1650, possessed by János Jakabházy, lieutenant from Szécsény. The copy is undoubtedly authentic as demonstrated by the intact seal in wax and by its conforming to other sources ofthat age. It extends to 25.5 pages with its type of writing composition and appearance reflecting every sign of the baroque style of its age. The language used is Latin, only the testimonies of serfs are recorded in Hungarian. From the legal point of view this document is of "transmitting character", Such letters were made when, in case of appeals, the basic judgement had to be presented to the royal court by the county courts. This copy of the file of documents can surely be considered one of the most precious recently found sources of Szolnok county. One one hand, these are definitely the oldest civil pleadings that remained relatively complete, and, on the other hand, they give reasonably thorough and lively details about an age of which we have so little information. They outline the peculiar features of the Tiszamellék (Tisza-region) at Törökszentmiklós at the beginning of the Turkish occupation, but in some connections they give information about the times before the occupation period. The subject of the case is of minor importance, the ownership of a property (land and house) of low value, one of several dozens at that age. Its value is manifested elswhere. First, it is evident that every moment of the litigation coincides with the legal practice having been summarized by Werbőczy in his "Tripartitum", and second, the special new features, forced by the existence and closeness of the Turkish occupation, also appear. Furthermore it is similarly valuable for the local history, since, unlike the sources of the era with mostly statistical character, it shows the moments of everyday life of small settlements in the plains, primarily in Tiszapüspöki, in their dynamics. 256
