ERNIE KÖNNYŰ BRINGS TO THE 13TH DISTRICT A RECORD OF DEDICATED REPUBLICAN PERFORMANCE Ernie Könnyű has been involved in Republican politics in California, Nevada and Ohio for more than 12 years. Prior to his residence here in the 13th District and as a homeowner in Saratoga, Ernie was the Republican nominee in Nevada for the State's Second Assembly District. He lost in a hotly-contested race against the Democratic incumbent. He also was founding president of the North Las Vegas Republican Club. He is a former member of the Los Angeles County Republican Central Committee and associate member of the California Republican Central Committee. Könnyű, who was educated in elementary school in Jefferson City, Mo., and high school in St. Louis, Mo., is a native of Hungary where his father was a teacher. As an enlisted man in the United States Air Force during the early sixties, he was awarded the coveted Airman's Scholarship to Ohio State University from where he was graduated in 1965. He was commissioned an officer in the Air Force that same year, rose to the rank of Captain, and was appointed Resident Auditor at Nellis Air Force Base. While attending Ohio State he was a member of the Young Republicans, co-chairman of the University's Republican Mock Convention in 1964, and a member of the Student Senate. During his service years with the Air Force, Kbnnyu was deeply involved in civic and community affairs. He was president of the North Las Vegas Junior Chamber of Commerce, and a director of St. Christopher's Men's Club. While employed as a supervisor of internal audit for the Avon Corporation in Southern California he was LILLIAN KÖNNYŰ . . . AN OUTSTANDING CITIZEN Mrs. Ernie Könnyű (Lillian) is an outstanding citizen in her own right. A certified anesthetist at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, Lillian served as president of the Nevada Association of Anesthetists and was named one of the "Outstanding Young Women in America" in 1969. Könnyű to Congress founding president of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Republicans and was named the outstanding Republican volunteer for the 58th Assembly District. Könnyű is listed in the 1969 issue of "Outstanding Young Men of America" and, through sponsorship of the California Jaycees, was elected in 1973 to be a lifetime Senator in the Junior Chamber International. He has been a Certified Internal Auditor since 1973. Ernie Könnyű Captain USAF Reserve Locally, Könnyű is a member of the San Jose Jaycees, San Jose Elks Lodge 522, the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, the Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga, The San Jose Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Santa Clara County Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association. He and his wife, Lillian, have four daughters, Carol 15, Renata 13, Lisa 12, and Vicki 5. The family lives at 19437 De Havilland Court, Saratoga. THE 13TH DISTRICT-ONE OF THE STATE'S BEST FOR REPUBLICAN REGISTRATION The 13th Congressional District, long held by Charlie Gubser and the Republican party, has a 41% Republican registration, one of the best in the state in terms of Republican voters. It's a district which must and will be brought back to Republican leadership in Congress.-22 T
