All members were urged to invite other eligible persons, and submit names to either of the officers. The names of all members will be placed on a membership list available from either of the officers. The Association will not publish a newsletter. Information can be obtained by writing to the officers. Announcements and vari­ous communications will be published through already existing pub­lications, primarily ITT-OTT and the Hungarian Studies Newsletter. The Constitution and By-Laws will be submitted to the membership at the next general meeting. Suggestions on all phases of the work of the Association are welcome. The meeting was devoted to organizational questions; the six­teen members present voted in favor of the following points to be incorporated in the by-laws. I. The name of the organization shall be the American Hungarian Educator's Association. II. The American Hungarian Educators' Association shall be an autonomous body. III. Membership in the AHEA shall be open to all educators. 1. who are of Hungarian origin, regardless of their subject field; 2. who, regardless of origin, teach Hungarian or are active in related fields, e.g. Eastern European studies; 3. who are, or have been involved in, research on Hungarian topics, including translators and librarians. IV. The purpose of the Association shall be 1. to provide the possibility for professionals to discuss common problems; 2. to provide the possibility of organizing groups — informal or otherwise — within our respective professional organi­zations both as individuals and as a group; 3. to further Hungarian and related studies in American and Canadian universities and other institutions of learning; 4. to promote and participate in cooperative and scholarly ventures which pertain to the interests of the organiza­tion's goals. 5. The organization is committed to the maintenance and support of Hungarian education at all levels.
