1991-01-01 / 1. szám

13 Letters-to-the-Editor Dear Mr. Pulitzer: Thank you very much for your kind letter of October 25,1990, which I found in my mail when I returned from Europe a few days ago. I also thank you for your generous offer to cooperate and provide promotional publicity we mutually would consider useful for both the Republic of Hungary and American-Canadian-born citizens of Hungarian descent. You would probably recall the statements made recently by the Prime Minister H.E. József Antall, while visiting the United States, that in our view everybody is Hungarian who considers him/ herself Hungarian. Therefore, I fully agree with you that we should welcome those American and Canadian-born citizens of Hungarian descent who may wish to provide assistance of any kind for the prosperity of Hungary. While thanking you in advance for your kind attention, I remain, Respectfully yours, De. Janos Fodor Consul General (N.Y.) Republic of Hungary (EDITOR'S NOTE: That the new Consul General of the Republic of Hungary in New York City, as well as other officials we've talked with, recognize the importance of lifting the language-barrier against American and Canadian-born citizens of Hungarian descent and to welcome them back into Hungarian community life, is very gratifying to us who have tried so hard to get this point across. Now, if only some of those hardheaded and hard-nosed leaders of and spokesmen for Hungarian churches, organizations, and clubs here and in Canada could be induced to read the "handwriting-onthe-wall", and as already seen and read by the leaders of and spokesmen for the new Republic of Hungary, we would be getting somewhere. So would the revitalization of our Hungarian community which needs it so badly.) Dear Sirs: The time has come of renew my subscription to the HHR. It is hard to recall what life was like before I met up with your fine magazine. Although I am a first generation Hungarian- American, my wife was born in Transylvania. Now, we both look forward to receiving our copy of the HHR and have enjoyed learning about the history of Hungary and its' past heroes. We also enjoy the Hungarian lessons and learning of Hungarians who have made and are making contributions to the United States and Canada. Keep up the great work! Kalman & Edith Bona Fairfield, Connecticut Dear Mr. Pulitzer: Recently, Mr. John Kaszonyi of San Diego, an avid reader of your publication, gave me several copies of the Hungarian Heritage Review. I was pleasantly surprised by the interesting format of the magazine. As an American- Hungarian born in Cleveland, your articles about Hungary, its culture and heritage was very informative and educational. Therefore, I'd like to become a subscriber and also request another subscription be sent to my brother in Cleveland. Mrs.Claire Vereczky Thousand Oaks,California (EDITOR'S NOTE: As a direct result of our correspondence with Mrs. Vereczky, who has a journalistic background, you will find this month's Hungarian-American Profile on the great Hungarian star of stage and screen, Eva Szörényi, on page 14 that was authored by her. Thank you, Mrs. Claire Vereczky, for your cooperation and interest in the HHR.) Dear Sir: Thank you for the subscription renewal notice. We gladly enclose a check for $25 to renew our subscription and a $10 check donation for the HHR BENEFIT FUND. My wife and I enjoy reading the Hungarian Heritage Review and find it very informative. We are pleased to see how it has grown in size and coverage of items relating to Hungarian accomplishments. We wish you continued success!
