Preparing Tf\ov ^onr future ®obap- by -ALEXANDER HODY [LUTCF], Agency Manager William Penn Association TIDBITS People are sometimes unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Love them anyway! ***** If you do good, people might accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway! ***** If you are successful, you might win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway! “Truth hath a quiet breast”. —William Shakespeare “The monuments of wit survive the monuments of power.’’ —Francis Bacon “Life is too short to do anything for oneself that one can pay others to do for one.” —William Somerset Maughham “A good leader can’t get too far ahead of his followers.” —Franklin Delano Roosevelt If you have any questions, or are in need of expert advice, please call for an appointment or write: ALEXANDER HODY AGENCY MANAGER WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION 216 SOMERSET STREET NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. 08901 TEL: 201-249-7752 Closing the gap on retirement... We are back in the fold of a new beginning of a brand new year. I hope it is all well with you! We’ve all heard the drums, the whistle is blown... it is time to move on! One must go on! How was it again?. . . When care is pressing you down a bit. Rest! If you must — but never quit We are discussing annuities and we have established the fact that our tomorrows — with it, the “rest of our lives” will come sooner than we care to accept it. It is wise to make some provisions for the golden years! Since, there is no such thing as an adequate retirement fund and the income for our dignified self preservation will have to come from somewhere, it is wise to consider all possibilities with vigor and intelligence. There are specific sources from which parts of our retirement income will come such as: Programs provided by the government: a. Social Security b. Civil Service Retirement Programs. . . Probably the most important of these two is the benefit which has been provided for the majority by the “Social Security Act” but, however, great this wonderful provision may be, it carries also the false illusion in itself for many. Because, of high earnings, many workers assume that Social Security and perhaps a pension plan will guarantee all that is needed. False. Social Security was never meant to furnish more than a subsistence level of old age income. It is easy to theorize that our 20, 30, 40 years of federal and/or private pension contributions will support them when retired however, nothing is further from the truth! For one thing, in many cases, pension plans are integrated with Social Security and totaling therefore less income than hoped for. . . It is highly recommended that we take advantage of the free information service as it is being provided for by the Social Security administration. Just go into any Social Security office where you may obtain a form to be sent away for your own Social Security reading. It is good to know for more than one reason just how we fare in this respect! Many of you will understand my reasoning in this important matter, it is not always in our favor to work longer while in some other cases it is! So, you see — it is important to know just where we stand. When we have intelligently calculated our total Social Security benefits then we will also see a clearer reason to establish our own retirement fundings! Since our space again being used for its fullest, we will discuss the Civil Service Retirement Program at our next meeting and until then WALK IN THE SUNSHINE EVERY DAY! “We thought you would like to know ...” At William Penn Agency in New Jersey we have set the following code of ethics for our operation. . . 1. We will uphold the standards of our Association. 2. We will hold our industry in high esteem and strive to enhance its professional prestige. 3. We will at all times, maintain high company standards of moral responsibility, character, and business integrity. At all times, we will practice fairness, frankness and honesty in all of our work, advertising and in all forms of transaction with the general public while remaining true and fair in dealing with other respectful companies of our industry.........................................
