Hungarian '■'húrch Press-15-k fessors of theology, curators and parish referendaries took part. In the evening, a press festival tool: place dg. one of the churches, with about 3000 people attending. The festival opened With:Scripture reading sind prayer by Bishop Jolin Péter, and was closed by the prayer of Dr, i I*aul Parkas, Senior of the Presbytery. Anthony Zsadon, the noted or­ganist pláyed^the organ and the College Choir sang a number of chorals* $r. Emery Kádár, head of ,the Press' Department addresísod the congregation on the theme: ’’Serving; the Written Word, the Press Soryice in, the Con­gregation", Rev. Alexander Peketo had the subject "Our Church Press Serving the C^usei of World ^oace". . Great crowds attended all these occasions* tho Christian -believers of this ancient Ráförmed city showing a great, interest in all the events of this Press Sunday.. In the Suburban Budapest rreobytory, the elders'press conferences were held on the same day in different otntres, Th^ afternoon was taken up with addresses on the church press and discussions, Th<se conferences in five places, Pestújhely, Csillaghegy, Kispest, Pesterzsébet and Nagy­tétény,, with an eáitor attending each group, ended with positive results BISjHOP LOUIS ,:VETŐ: • "THE TASKS. Luther m bishop, preached a sermon on Whitsonday, taking as his text the 23d-31at vu-iea of thc; 14th chapter of John,The sermon was broadcast from the church by the Hungarian Radio, In the ■ first part of his sermon, the Bishop spoke of the Spirit's work in the lives of the Old Testament prophets. Then he discussed the influence of the Holy Spirit on our emotions, I f "The Holy Spirit - said the Bishop -"teaches us all things" and "will guide us into all truth". That moans., that,He give^ us a clear arid definite perception, in every moment of our life, as.to what to do, ft is with a good reason that Jesus calls the -Spirit the paraclete,the Advocate - the Comforter, in the Hungarian Bible, The Spirit guides, directs, defends God's people, - only let it obey Him,■ The inner peace; that Christ bestows upon His people by the Holy Spirit is not an individual possession of the believers; God’s Spirit nev^r educates us to selfishness but fits us into a fellowship. Under the influence 'of the Spirit, the apostles go at once among the people, speak to them, and so is the church established. They took the gift of the Spirit to others; (they taught the people, they shared with their fellow-men the blessed.fruit of peace. If the Spirit is in us, we must do the same. Yet we. have another t'-,sk that reaches out still farther. It is the servióe of the-' world's outward peace. On the church mooting in Berlin which I, by the garce of God, attended, it was a frequent charge against the church that it is a silent church. We must admit, with repentance, that the church remained silent before the two world wars, instead of, making ri resolute stand against war and in favour of peace.
